The difference between silicon carbide rods and electric heating wires
Release time:

The main differences between silicon carbide rods and electric heating wires lie in their operating temperature, service life, material composition, and applicable scenarios.
Operating temperature
Silicon carbide rods: The operating temperature range of silicon carbide rods is relatively wide, generally between 800-1500℃, suitable for electric furnaces that require rapid heating and long-term operation at high temperatures.
Electric heating wires: Electric heating wires such as iron-chromium-aluminum alloy heating wires and nickel-chromium alloy heating wires have a relatively low operating temperature, usually below 1000℃, suitable for small kilns and experimental electric furnaces.
Service life
Silicon carbide rods: Under the same working conditions at 1000℃, the service life of silicon carbide rods is several times that of electric heating wires, usually exceeding 2000 hours.
Electric heating wires: The service life of electric heating wires is relatively short, generally ranging from several hundred hours to a few thousand hours, and they are prone to deformation and oxidation in high-temperature environments.
Material composition
Silicon carbide rods: Made from high-purity green hexagonal silicon carbide, which is crystallized through high-temperature firing, they possess excellent high-temperature resistance, oxidation resistance, and chemical stability.
Electric heating wires: Mainly made from iron-chromium-aluminum alloy or nickel-chromium alloy, they have a high resistivity and good oxidation resistance, but a shorter service life.
Applicable scenarios
Silicon carbide rods: Suitable for electric furnaces that require long-term operation at high temperatures, such as large kilns or electric furnaces.
Electric heating wires: Suitable for small kilns, experimental electric furnaces, and other situations that require lower temperatures.
